I want to go to Indo

One of my dreams has been to get barreled for more than two seconds plus a closeout on the head. I never thought I would be able to realize that dream until now. SurfAid and Quiksilver have partnered on a fundraising contest, called Get on Board, that will take the top fundraiser for SurfAid to Indo to see SurfAid's good work in action and surf some amazing barreling waves.

I've been a SurfAid supporter for years now, even before the 2004 earthquake/Tsunami that devastated the villages of Western Indonesia. Now I'm more motivated than ever to help out this amazing organization.

I've pledged to match the top donation that SurfAid receives through my fundraising web page, http://www.stayclassy.org/fundraise?fcid=179815.

If you stumble across this blog and wonder what you can do to help a fellow surfer realize his dream, then please donate to SurfAid via my fundraising page and everybody wins (you get a tax deduction, I get a shot at being barreled, and Indonesian villagers get help from SurfAid).

thanks for reading,

Steve

Brian of Montara: a Surfing Short Story

I saw this post on Craigslist here in the SF Bay Area tonight:

Brian of Montara Surfboard Webber Afterburner (half moon bay)

Give me back my surfboard! I tried to help you out because you needed money and it seems that you've ripped me off! You have not sold it for me and given me my part of the sale as agreed. Then you said you wanted to buy it! We arranged to meet for some money but you never showed up or called! I have called the phone number you gave me multiple times. Now I'm hearing stories from all over that you owe money or have stolen it from lots of your friends. I don't want to go to the police because I hate dealing with cops! I'd rather give you one more chance to do the right thing. I'm almost at the point of offering a reward to help me get it back. Brian, If there's one shred of decency left in you email me. xxxx@hotmail.com
If anyone else is reading this don't buy this surfboard as it is stolen! Eventually I may have to go to the police to get my board. You do not want to pay for a surfboard only to have the police take it from you. I don't want anyone else losing money on this surfboard!
